ABOUT
Sara Ann Jakub,
MA, SYC, LPC
With help from mentors, I was able to learn about possible opportunities in the world that were previously unknown to me; as such became our family’s first college graduate.
Since completing my Bachelor's degree in Psychology, I’ve subsequently obtained a Master's in Psychology as well as a 6th Year Professional Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC, I provide mental health therapy to children, adolescents, and their families.
I have worked for nearly three decades in the non-profit sector, both as a counselor and by providing indirect services in mental health administration in South-Eastern Connecticut. Management experiences were concurrent with my counseling work, providing supervision trainings, as well as clinical director overseeing counselors and Quality Assurance (QA) in multiple clinical programs.
❊ Telehealth or in person available.
Please note, should you choose telehealth, those sessions will occur on a secure HIPPA compliant virtual platform I provide, but do require you ensure a reliable internet connection in a safe confidential space in Connecticut.
Individual Counseling
Outpatient therapy for children and adolescents, 3 years old up until young adulthood, including early college years. Pre-school aged therapy primarily incorporates family caregivers given developmental capacity and need for external system change. Outpatient care is weekly, biweekly to monthly depending on level of need and progress, with capacity to increase to 2x week if needed for crisis or to bridge short term to higher level of care.
Best practices counseling for youth most often incorporates family components and/ or family or solo parent guidance sessions. Planning, frequency and structure of family engagement varies on a case-by-case basis given assessment of need and dynamics.
Family Therapy
Family therapy is most often more helpful when it incorporates all primary natural supports that are active in a child/ teen’s life and those that would be necessary to create a new shared understanding and healthy communication, relational pattern for the family unit, however defined (foster, chosen or biological family) to move forward more positively.
All members involved in family therapy deserve a safe emotional and physical space as well as a sense of therapeutic alliance, feeling equally seen and supported in the counseling space with treatment goals co-collaborated with all members.
Supervision/Consultation/ Professional Training
Contracted training, peer consultation and professional coaching is available with use of reflective supervision approaches as well as to facilitate fidelity with evidenced based treatment practices.
Assessments for legal proceedings in any fashion, including family court assessments, are exclusive services and incompatible to any family or individual therapy clients. Well established treatment best practices and professional ethics deems no visitation or custodial recommendations can be provided to established therapeutic focused mental health clients.
❊ Testimonials
Loved by Client, Trusted by Parents.
Seriously! But don’t take our word for it, here are some things people have to say about us.
Sara was so helpful when we couldn't find the services needed with higher levels of care, made calls with us and joined meetings at school too.
— Mom of teen
“
Ms. Sara is cool. I sometimes get nervous about having to find her replacement in an adult therapist but not that nervous. I was hospitalized 8 x before we started and only 1 ER visit in the last 2 years.
—18 yr old client
“
When my daughter started counseling, she was afraid to sleep alone and was about to go to college but was still in my bed at night. She successfully sleeps on her own without fear and Ms. Sara threw her a party to celebrate at the office.
— Father of college student
“
I think I have learned the most from you to be able to feel comfortable to work independently.

I’m a therapist that believes in the power of therapy; I have a plethora of training “tools” to help as a member of your team. I work to create a unique experience for all, to aid in the journey forward towards a shared vision of success.
No placating, no fakeness, but competence mixed delicately with your current reality and hopefulness for change.
Quality mental health care is often difficult to access in the current systems of care, with practitioners siloed and hard to find, even for us clinicians to find and refer to each other without barriers. In my work, I aim to reduce barriers created by systems that ask us unique humans to fit a square peg in a round hole.
